It all ties into the discussion over Agile values and the pushback from traditional management on ideas such as people over processes.
We told them and told them and told them and told them about the need for trust, about pull rather than push, about letting people choose how and when to do things and judging us by outcomes rather than hours worked.
And they didn’t believe us.
Some still don’t.
But, oddly enough, when they are physically prevented from breathing down our necks, and when they are rudely confronted with our frail humanity, and yet we deliver day after day after day after day…

Well. Those arguments about punching the clock and knowing our place don’t hold up very well.
