It's safe to say so if you're a Senior Product Designer in the US, where salaries are much higher than elsewhere. I've never even met anyone with 5 years' salary saved, but then we don't have medical bills here, either.
The advice about saving in general (and reducing spending), not taking it personally, supporting friends and remaining optimistic are sound, as is being willing to look outside your current role for new opportunities.
(You might be surprised how much you'd miss a fancy title, even with better compensation: it's fine until you need to get anything done - but of course if you're leaving it all to be a hermit in the woods then it doesn't really matter.)
Point is, the advice in principle is reasonable, but it doesn't hurt to consider those who are facing the same challenges without your safety net, like the person I read about five minutes ago who was in her first job with just a few weeks' experience, and struggling to find another job.
It's a cruel world out there, and never hurts to be a little kinder.
