There's a flip side to that, too. While in this example the problems were found immediately, if the person has been employed for more than a year, you might find the same answer on the other side:
Would you enthusiastically reapply to this company?
Very, very few companies would pass this test.
Also on that flip side is the consideration of Chris's perspective. Is his awkwardness and (presumably) bluntness actually autism? That's not very inclusive, is it? You'd literally be firing him for his disability.
If he's challenging other people, is he coming in with vastly superior skills and finding that they don't like being shown to be wrong? There's a lot of unanswered questions here.
