Two things are seared into my Xennial brain:
1. A short story by JD Salinger in which all the over-scheduled children in a village go mad and murder their parents
2. A conversation with my daughter's first year/grade teacher. I asked what she needs to focus on at home, and the teacher replied, "For God's sake, let her enjoy things! If she wants to slump on the sofa with a tablet, let her. Her love of learning is precious; don't do anything to harm it."
For us lucky ones during Covid, I wonder if half the trauma is because we're finally getting some rest.
