It has become fashionable to lambast “out-of-touch liberals” for their lack of empathy, and we are told to listen more to people we disagree with, but that is ignoring the fact that we disagree with them because they are wrong.

There’s no “other side” to the argument on racism.

There’s no “other side” to bigotry, injustice, xenophobia, misogyny and bullying.

Four years ago, if I had asked how far we were supposed to empathise with Hitler’s supporters, people would fairly say I was being ridiculous. Now, it’s not up for debate: Trump is a fascist.

The false equivalence between right and wrong is a red herring — 1930s Germans were treated poorly, demoralized and desperate for someone to lead them to a brighter future. Most made the wrong choice, and they remain culpable for their decisions.

You, Trump supporter, might not think of yourself as racist or easily led, but you are. There’s no valid counter-argument. The only thing you can do to redeem your conscience is take a long hard look in the mirror and radically change course.

Fox News is trash created by evil people to manipulate stupid people. Like Murdoch’s equally odious The Sun, it has no redeeming qualities whatsoever.

Decades ago, the newspaper bragged that it could decide the course of elections.

It was wrong.

Don’t waste another second on Fox, or the genuinely deplorable: focus instead on persuading those humble enough to see reason, and on ensuring that the Democrats are worthy of your vote.
