Why Americans aren't striving for European-style working conditions is beyond me. If virtually every other developed country can thrive with 35-40-hour work weeks, 30-days-a-year paid leave, proper sickness and maternity benefits etc. then why can't the USA?

Aside from a handful of billionaires, you don't have better lives. Most of my US friends still struggle to buy a house or afford childcare. You're not better educated, healthier or living more luxurious lives. You're just being exploited and you turn the rage inwards or on each other rather than addressing the root of the problem.
